ISC 4 International Environmental School

topicsprogresspartners

How can schools in Europe and all their participants

  • deal with environmental problems like packaging waste, especially plastic waste, paper waste and electronic waste (mobile phones etc.)?
  •  fight air pollution by the mobility behaviour of students and teachers?
  • reduce noise and light pollution?
  • save more energy (problems of energy scarcity)?
  • combat food waste?
  • deal with the threats arising from climate change?protect the nature (plants, animals, forest, etc.)?

Each partner does a research on existing projects they already have at their schools:

  • students ask teachers and principals to find out,
  • they will report current projects via photos etc. for presentation to all partners in Lithuania,
  • they will find out what is not working yet according to a responsible treatment of the environment.
  • therefore they have to design a questionnaire to find out how the situation in school is right now (how do you manage your impact in the environment). The aim of the survey is to find out what are less or most important problems at school.

Questions for the survey have to be sent to each other until mid of December.

  •  each partner makes a suggestion of concrete projects and arrangements that could be planned and realized at their schools.
  • the students keep in mind which steps are necessary to realize a project. All relevant people and aspects should be involved.

The results should be prepared in form of short PowerPoint presentations (until student mobility)

At student mobility the students work on one or two common projects which should be realized afterwards at their home schools.

ISC 5 Sustainable Development in Business

topicsprogresspartners

How can our start-up (ISC3) act sustainably?

The company is responsible for their employees and other different stakeholders as well as for the environment.

How to change business life towards more sustainability?

  • creating another kind of product and more supply services for customers
  • less planned obsolescence (less consciously build in weak links products by manufacturers) – offering more repair working to preserve broken products
  • designing a working world in a more staff-oriented way: new ways for more creativity, change in working times, home office, better Work-Life-Balance
  • more involvement and financial participation for employees
  • flat hierarchies, face to face meetings and team spirit

Research what companies can do to act more sustainably in three different economic sectors:

  • the students will conduct interviews with experts (representatives of the management like CEOs, personnel managers, public relations department etc.) in one company of each sector including questions to following two topics:
  1. business ethics:
  • which kind of corporate concepts / philosophy do they have?
  • according to which principles do they organize teamwork, working conditions, compliance etc.?
  1. production processes and value chain:
  • how to design valuable production?
  • (reduction of pollution at production, packaging, transportation etc.)

Questions for the interview guideline should be sent to each other until mid of December to create a common interview guideline assisting the students in conducting the interviews.

At the final meeting (student mobility):

Students share their national results and prepare final presentations of the different sectors and try to organize a podiums discussion: pros and cons – debating about opportunities and risks of modern working world / compliance etc.)

topicsprogresspartners

What kind of application documents do you need in general when you want to apply for a job?

How are job interviews working in the different partner schools / countries?

Which competences do students need for an successful job interview?

What cultural traditions have to be respected in each country?

What kind of cultural boundaries and similarities do exist?

Which competences do students need to apply successfully?

How can student prepare themselves for an successful application?(trainings for self-confidence, mimic, gestures)

As a starting point the students have got a start-up.

The startup from ISC 3 is looking for new employees:

The students will get two profiles: one for an IT engineer / programmer and one for a sales manager.

(Teachers get profiles from Germany until 23rd of November)

The “student employers” (group 1) are asked to find new employees and  the “student applicants” (group 2) want to apply for a job:

Group 1: Employers

Employers responsible for human resources will research about different application systems and interview techniques including research what kind of questions are allowed resp. common in your country, which are not.

Group 2: Applicants

The applicants have to prepare for the job interviews:

  • get informed about the company itself,
  • think of questions they should ask in the interview,
  • search out what kind of answers are appropriate,
  • which behavior is appropriate,
  • which dress is appropriate etc.
  • the applicants create an European CV (Europass) and a letter of motivation or create an applying video.

At the final meeting (student mobility):

Students will bring research results all together and work out differences and similarities in application procedures of the four countries.

Students create videos of good European job interviews and video of unsuitable job interviews.
